“Komputers” are Key at Kidz Kraze
An integral part of the uniqueness of Kidz Kraze is the hands-on FUN kids have using computers. In a room designed as the Computer Center, kids as young as 5 will actually be learning to speak Spanish as a second language (unless it’s already their home language) while “playing” on the computers, Specially designed software programs are used not only to teach a foreign language, but to learn to play the piano as well.
Connected to piano keyboards and using headphones, children will make “joyful noise” as they learn to sight read musical notes and play rhythmically following the video instruction. Older students use keyboarding computer software, while younger children work with a TV/DVD program as they play their keyboards.
Adult supervision with individual attention is the key. The computer will not know if a child is using good posture or finger/hand positions, but a personal instructor gives guidance and encouragement. So often at school, children have a limited amount of time to use computers as a learning or research tool, or are interrupted by classmates and other classroom activities.
But in the Computer Center at Kidz Kraze, children will enjoy using a computer workstation (like an office cubicle) built of colorful Formica. Yes! They get their own uninterrupted “space”! Computer and piano keyboard stations in the Computer Center are arranged so that the staff can easily monitor all activities. Kidz Kraze keeps the FUN going…and going…and going.
Variety of Computer Software for Enrichment and Reinforcement
Reading and Math are lots more fun on a computer! Software programs that reinforce reading and math skills help students overcome weaknesses or challenge those that want to move ahead of their grade-level. With 5-6 adults overseeing the program at all times, the learning process is purposeful, directed and monitored by our staff.
Phonics can also be reinforced using TV/DVD programs with younger children and computer software for older students. Phonics not only benefits oral reading fluency, but spelling as well. Rotating the days for language or music enrichment, no child will ever say, “I’m bored.” Kidz Kraze is an excellent enrichment opportunity for children who are Home Schooled.
With the small adult to student ratio, it’s almost like being at home, but better! Kids enjoy a small circle of new friends, use computer programs and piano keyboards that may not be available at home, and a variety of other enriching activities.
More than Computers…Homework Guidance, Art, Health & Fitness, Reading and Drama
Kidz Kraze develops confidence in children as their lives become more enriched having FUN while learning. We provide structured learning across different curriculums, meeting a variety of learning styles.
Children rotate by age appropriate/grade-level groups through the different activity rooms, including the Computer Center and a time for snacks. Kindergartners, 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th, and 5th graders enjoy socializing with other children from nearby schools in their grade-level groups. With holiday parties, neighborhood friends, individualized attention in small group settings, nothing could be more fun than an afternoon at Kidz Kraze.
The Homework Guidance Room
The Homework Guidance room, with its colorful workstations, is just what the name implies. With teacher supervision, parents have an extra “Guide on the Side” offering encouragement, answering questions, and giving praise for completing a task. Homework can be a positive experience…for children and parents. Now when you come home from work, you and your child can do the things you enjoy together – quality time for making family memories.
The Art Room
The Art room is designed for after-school ceramic classes. The art of drawing and oil painting enrich the school’s art curriculum with more individual attention and more time to enjoy the artistic process of creating a “work of art!”
Health And Fitness Instruction
Health and Fitness instruction bring a well-rounded perspective to Kidz Kraze. With the expertise of a registered nurse, children will learn about everything from food groups to the importance of exercise. There’s even a KIDROBICS class to work out all that childhood exuberance, yet in a guided, kid-friendly manner.
The Reading Room
The Reading room is a quiet sanctuary. Here children can read for enjoyment, read aloud with a partner, or read to reach their AR goals. Book shelves have a Kidz Kraze lending library, in case a child starts reading a favorite book or exciting chapter and can’t stop until they finish it at home!
Last But Not Least…
Sally Cavallo, owner and innovative creator of Kidz Kraze calling herself the “Big Kid” behind the vision of Kidz Kraze, is formerly a NYS Licensed Childcare Provider for 15 years, bringing that same love of children to Tampa. Sally kept hearing about the need for quality after-school programs from neighbors, friends, and family. Applying priceless years of wisdom in nurturing children, Sally created Kidz Kraze as a computer learning center and after-school program where children can learn and still have fun at the same time. “Don't confuse Kidz Kraze as a childcare facility,” says owner Sally Cavallo. “Although working parents will have complete peace of mind knowing their child is in a safe, structured environment during their after-school hours, they will be participating in a tutorial program where having fun and learning go hand in hand.
